THE CHERNOBYL NUCLEAR DISASTER - The explosion in the #4 reactor at Chernobyl nuclear power station was undoubtedly the World’s greatest nuclear accident. Only
5% of the reactor core escaped but it was enough to kill those near it & damage food & crops
as far away as Northern England. An almost unbelievable litany of operatational errors
culminating in a simple mistake by an operator early in the nightshift on Saturday 26th April
1986 resulted in catastrophe.
