ASSESSMENT MODULES
Each
assessment module is provided as a compressed, self-extracting zip file.
Download the file to a nominated download or temporary directory on your
hard disk drive. DO NOT download it to the course directory. Next, using
the Windows RUN command, execute the dowloaded file. A dialog box will
appear asking you for a target directory; the file will automatically
extract to the directory that you nominate. The default target directory
is set to C:\IQTEMP but you should edit the filepath so that the file is
extracted into the appropriate course directory on your hard disk drive.
If you do not nominate a course directory, the file will extract to
C:\IQTEMP & you must then use Windows Explorer to move it to the
appropriate course directory. Note that the assessment modules will not
run unless they are located in the same directory as the relevant course
files.
USING
THE ASSESSMENT MODULES
The
assessment modules are run as separate standalone applications; they
cannot be started from within the course. They can be launched from the
Windows RUN menu, from Windows Explorer, or you can create a shortcut
& an icon on your Windows desktop using standard Windows
conventions. Note that the assessment modules executable files require
other runtime file to be present in the same directory. They must
therefore be located in the appropriate course directory.
Each
time a candidate opens an assessment module, they will be asked to enter
their name or some form of ID. On exit, a seesion transcript (logfile)
is automatically saved to the Logfiles subdirectory under the course
directory eg. Boiler2\Logfiles\log00002.log. A logfile file will be
saved regardless of whether the assessment session is completed or
terminated prematurely. Candidates can open the assessment module as
many times as they like using the same ID. After each session, an
additional logfile bearing their ID will be saved. Trainers or asessors
should use the last-saved logfile to conduct formal assessment. The
logfiles can be opened, viewed & printed using the Report Generator
application "Report.exe". This can be found in the course
directory. It can be started from a button on the Main Menu pages of the
boiler courses but in the case of the Pumps & Valves courses, it
must be started from the Windows RUN command or Windows Explorer.
Alternatively, you can create a shortcut & icon on your desktop
using standard Windows conventions.

ASSESSMENT GUIDES
The
"Candidate Assessment Guides" are provided for NZQA unit
standards candidates to help prepare for the "On-Job"
practical component of the competency assessment relating to specific
unit standards. Note that they are provided for the use of candidates
preparing for assessment by I.Q Technology or our nominated workplace
assessors. Where assessment is to be performed by other training
providers, their procedures may differ & you should discuss specific
requirements with your nominated provider. International customers are
free to download & use these guides but you should be aware that
they may not be appropriate for use in your locality.
NZQA candidates must
successfully complete the "Off-Job" computer or text-based
assessment (minimum 85% grade) to demonstrate that they have achieved
the required level of competence with regard to the core generic
knowledge before they can proceed to the "On-Job" practical
assessment. The objective of the "On-Job" assessment is to
demonstrate that you have the necessary confidence, ability &
experience to meet the practical "hands-on" requirements of
the unit standard. The Candidate Guides will provide you with a list of
the key tasks you are expected to perform & the topics on which you
will be expected to express a clear understanding. The ability to
complete the list with confidence prior to the assessment will enhance
your prospect of being judged competent & awarded the qualification.
All guides are in MS Word format.
